Shropshire Youth Theatre

Ed, Steve, Simon and Becky took up the challenge against other local accountants, bankers and lawyers at the Corbet Arms pub in Uffington, Shrewsbury on 23 April.
Staged to mark St George's Day, the quiz tested their general knowledge of British sport, geography, entertainment, music and current affairs. Lawyers from Hatchers solicitors carried off the winner's plaque closely followed by colleagues from the firm's Whitchurch branch in second place.
It was the third annual quiz staged by BCR and raised £840 for the Severn Hospice.
There was some good-humoured rivalry between the professionals.
Perhaps they need to start preparing now for next year's rematch!!

This is a closed session which deliver each year covering relevant financial topics for medical students who are just about to graduate. Its always a fun session with lots of unusual questions.

The event is held every four years and is the biggest gathering of young people in the World. It is a 12 day camping experience like no other; young people from over 200 countries come together to celebrate Scouting, focussing on Global Development and fostering Peace through respect and mutual understanding of each other’s cultures.
Individual participants will be fundraising in a variety of ways to make their personal contribution to the cost of the adventure.

This initial meeting is very much for us to discuss how the Shropshire Charity Networking group could work going forwards. The first meeting is taking place on Monday 20th May at 5pm at The Armoury in Shrewsbury, where we have a space reserved.

This idea came about when we were all looking for a group like this and couldn't find one out there! We are suggesting the meetings take place quarterly, and that there would be no charge. We would very much like this to be a relaxed and informal group but this is very much in the development stages and we are open to suggestions!

Small charities are usually set up in response to a social need or by founders with a passion to create change or deliver on a mission – rarely are they set up with effective financial management in mind! But as a charity grows good financial management is crucial. In this half-day workshop we will be examining the key elements of effective financial management, offering practical advise on how to ensure that the right questions are asked, creating a better informed decision making process. The workshop will be focussed on small charities (annual income of less than £1million) and will be run as part of the Foundation for Social Improvement’s Small Charity Week.

Christmas Donations
TCA and the staff this year decided to make donations to two local charities in lieu of sending Christmas cards to our clients and each other. We will be donation to The Shrewsbury Ark and Grinshill Animal Rescue.
In addition we have made a great donation of food and toys to the St Barnabas Food Bank for the second year running.
